Karim I State Constituency Bye-Election: PDP’s Ali Kanda Expresses Optimism Amid High Voter Turnout

The bye-election for the Karim I State House of Assembly seat is progressing peacefully, with reports of high voter turnout across the constituency.
Speaking during the poll, Hon. Ali Kanda, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed satisfaction with the electoral process and optimism about the outcome.
“The election is going on smoothly, and there’s a high turnout in my area,” Kanda said. “From what I’m seeing, this will continue till the end. It’s not just in my ward — other polling units across the constituency are also experiencing a good turnout and orderly conduct.”
The PDP candidate projected confidence in his chances of winning the seat, citing widespread grassroots support.
“I’m very optimistic about victory,” he stated. “We’re only waiting for the official announcement. My supporters are everywhere in the constituency — I have strong backing, and I’m in high spirits. Definitely, I believe I will win.”
Kanda also used the opportunity to urge his supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding throughout the electoral process.
“I’m calling on all my supporters to be calm and shun violence. We must ensure the election is free, fair, and peaceful. After all, winning an election means nothing if there is no peace to govern. Let us conduct ourselves responsibly so the process can end well.”
