Kaduna Church Distributes Grains to Muslims for Ramadan

The Church of Evangelical and Life Intercessory Ministry in Sabon Tasha, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has distributed grains to over 1,000 Muslims and Islamic schools as part of its annual Ramadan outreach.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Church’s General Overseer, Pastor Dr. Yohanna Buru, has been running for nearly two decades and is designed to promote peaceful coexistence among religious groups in the region.
Pastor Buru highlighted that this year’s distribution included 30 bags of maize and millet, with plans for further outreach to ensure more underprivileged Muslims can observe Ramadan without difficulty.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani, a Muslim woman who consistently supports Christian widows and orphans during Christmas, New Year, and Easter celebrations.
“This gesture strengthens interfaith bonds and demonstrates the importance of helping one another, regardless of religious differences,” Pastor Buru said.
In addition to the food distribution, Pastor Buru called on traders to refrain from inflating prices during Ramadan, urging fairness in market practices.
To support this appeal, the Church mobilized 30 volunteer pastors and imams for a week-long awareness campaign promoting ethical pricing.
Among the beneficiaries, Mallam Hassan Lawal, leader of the Association of Persons Living with Disabilities in Kaduna, expressed profound gratitude for the church’s ongoing support. Similarly, Mallam Tukur Zubairu, head of the Kaduna State Blind Persons Association, commended the church for its unwavering commitment to assisting Muslims during Ramadan.
For 19 years, this initiative has been active across five northern states, fostering unity and strengthening interfaith relationships in the region.
