Kachalla Sembe FC emerges winners of Jauro’s ‘Peace & Unity cup’ in Taraba

In his resolve towards maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and the unity being enjoyed by the people under his watch, the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji (Dr.) Aminu Jauro Hassan, has organized a football competition among the ten wards of the local government area.

Our Correspondent who covered the football match, gathered that the contest tagged, “Jalingo local government inter ward Peace and Unity football competition” took place at Afolahan’s Square, Jalingo.
According to our Reporter, all the ten wards of the council featured their teams which ran concurrently for two weeks.
There were winners and losers until the game reached at the semi-final stage where Turaki ‘A’ and Kachalla Sembe Wards lock horns with each other.
At the end of 90 minutes of play, including extra times that were awarded by the Referee, no goal was scored by either side of the teams”,
This therefore led to a penalty shootout where Kachalla Sembe Football Club emerged victorious by scoring five (5) goals while their counterpart, Turaki ‘A’ Ward scored only four (4) goals”.

Answering questions from Journalists shortly, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan said the essence of the competition was to engage the youths of Jalingo and Taraba State as a whole into sporting activities.
He stressed that a committee was on ground to identify talents among the teeming players, assuring that, ‘Jalingo local government football club (FC) would soon be incorporated.
“The essence of the competition has been achieved because our youths have been engaged and everybody is happy”, he said.
Aminu Jauro Hassan who doubles as the chairman of the State branch of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) and the association’s national welfare officer, said the local government peace and unity cup was the second in the series.
He explained that the first was organized when he was the caretaker committee chairman while the one that just ended is the second one and it was organized under his administration as elected and executive chairman of the local government.
According to him, the tournament will enhance unity and peaceful coexistence among the people of the local government area irrespective of religion, tribe and political affiliations.
He however, lauded the State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas for creating a conducive working environment for peace which the people of the State are enjoying.
Aminu Jauro also appreciated and thanked the dignitaries who, out of their tight schedules came to witness the event, the participating wards of the Jalingo local government for their moral and orderly conduct throughout the exercise.
Our Correspondent reports that the Galadima Muri, Alh. Tukur Abba Tukur, the State Commissioner of Information, Hon. Barr. Zainab Ahmed Jalingo, Commissioner of Education, Dr Augustina Godwin, State Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Sani Sulaiman and State Secretary SWAN, Charles Akpeji were among the dignitaries who witnessed the epoch making event.
