JETHRO YERGA’S BODY LAID TO REST, AMIDST HEROIC FAREWELL

In a deeply emotional ceremony, the body of Mr. Jethro Saaior Yerga, the lte Assistant Secretary of the Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ was laid to rest amidst an outpouring of love, admiration, and respect.

His final journey was marked by a heroic welcome from colleagues, family members, students, and business associates, who gathered to pay their lat respect and tribute to a life dedicated to truth, integrity, and the pursuit of justice through journalism.

Jethro Yerga, was more than just a journalist, he was a voice for the voiceless, a relentless seeker of truth, and a beacon of professionalism in the media landscape.

Throughout his career, he earned the admiration of peers and the trust of the public, leaving behind a legacy of impactful storytelling..

As his body arrived at his adopted town of Kyado, in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State for its final resting, his students, friends and family members, lined the route in a solemn salute,, holding leaves and his photographs in a show of unity and respect.

Speeches from family members, fellow journalists, friends and Church members echoed with heartfelt memories, and praises for a man who touched so many lives both personally and professionally.

Recall that for about six years now Jethro alongside his community were leaving as an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue from Taraba State, following clashes between Jukun and Tiv people of Wukari Local Government Area, a plight that Mr. Jethro continue to called for its solution until his death.

He died on April 26, 2025, in Jalingo, Taraba State, at the age of 45yrs, and buried today 8th May, 2025.

He survived by his wife, Mrs Agatha Yerga, his Mother, Mrs Dorcas Hileshima Yerga, two brothers and four sisters.
