Jalingo LG boss flags-off tree planting campaign

In his efforts towards ensuring a greener society with a view to fighting the on-going climate change, the Executive Chairman of Jalingo local government Area of Taraba State, Hon. (Dr.) Aminu Jauro Hassan has flagged off tree planting campaign in the local government area.

Flagging-off the program today at Howai Primary School Mile Six, Jalingo the Chairman who was ably represented by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Nathaniel Peter Notani disclosed that the exercise was necessitated to address deforestation /environmental challenges in all nooks and crannies of the local government.
Hassan assured that, the tree planting exercise was going to run across all the public primary schools within Jalingo local government area adding that the initiative is aimed at complementing the moving forward agenda of the State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas.
“The aim of the exercise is to address deforestation and environmental challenges in the local government”, he said.
He further called on the people of the area to queue into what he described as a very very important initiative where according to him the society will enjoy a greener environment.
“Queue into this initiative, embrace the campaign and sustain the trees for a more safer environment”, he advised.
Also speaking, the Galadima Muri HRH, Alh.Tukur Abba Tukur, lauded Governor Agbu Kefas and Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan for the sound initiative geared towards ensuring a safer environment.
“I thank His Excellency Dr.Agbu Kefas and Hon. Aminu Jauro Hassan for this great initiative aimed at giving our environment a new look thereby further guaranteeing a more safer environment for both humans and animals”, he stated.
The Royal father further called on Jalingo residents and Tarabans to embrace the campaign and ensure sustainability of the trees.
A Director from the state Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Alh Adamu Isa in a remark emphasized the need for all to queue into the business of planting trees in all public schools across the State.
Isa added that trees are important in preserving the environment.
Howai Primary School Headmaster in his vote of thanks, appreciated the organizers of the campaign for starting with his school and urged them to extend the exercise to other public schools across the local government.
