Islamic Leader Condemns Call For Removal of Special Adviser To Taraba Gov on Muslim Affairs

An Islamic Leader, Muhammad Gazail has dismissed recent calls for the removal of Hon. Hussaini Ismaila, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas on Muslim Affairs, describing the calls as baseless and politically motivated.
Addressing a press conference in Jalingo Gazail discredited the claims made by the group calling for Ismaila’s removal.
He revealed that the group’s spokesperson is not only a returning officer for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Taraba State but also a lecturer at Taraba State University—indicating that the petition was politically driven rather than reflective of genuine concerns within the Muslim community.
Speaking on behalf of the Muslim organizations present, Gazail acknowledged the group’s democratic right to express opinions but stressed that the allegations in their petition do not represent the broader sentiments of the Muslim population in the state.
He described the campaign against Hon. Ismaila as “misleading and politically motivated,” affirming that the adviser’s track record, particularly in promoting unity among Muslim clerics, speaks volumes of his dedication and effectiveness.
“Since assuming office, Hon. Ismaila has been instrumental in ensuring inclusive representation for Muslims in government and maintaining a strong liaison between the Muslim community and the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas”.
Gazail noted that Ismaila’s proactive engagement has prevented disunity and fostered peaceful collaboration among Islamic scholars and leaders.
Highlighting his contributions during religious occasions such as Sallah, Gazail said Hon. Ismaila has consistently ensured the proper distribution of financial and material support to Muslim clerics, as allocated by the state government.
He urged those sowing seeds of discord to refrain from divisive actions and instead utilize appropriate channels to address concerns constructively. Gazail further commended Hon. Ismaila’s efforts in bridging religious divides, particularly between Christians and Muslims, which has significantly bolstered peaceful coexistence in Taraba State.
Gazail affirmed that Hon. Hussaini Ismaila continues to enjoy the trust and support of key Islamic organizations across the state, emphasizing that the recent calls for his removal do not reflect the collective stance of the Muslim community.
