International Youth Day: Bauchi Commissioner Charges Youth To Embrace New Technologies

On the occasion of the 2024 International Youth Day, youth in Bauchi State have been encouraged to utilize the resources of the internet and computer technology to positively impact the nation’s narrative.
During a one-day sensitization event in Bauchi to commemorate the day, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Aminu Hammayo, issued this challenge.
He emphasized the commitment of Governor Bala Muhammad’s administration to creating a conducive environment for youth to thrive in the digital realm.
In her address, , the State Program Officer of UNFPA,Deborah Tabara described the International Youth Day as a celebration of the resilience, strength, and progress that young people demonstrate in driving change within their communities and beyond.
“As we look at the future, the role of digitalization plays an important role in all aspects of life especially with the youth, this will enhance the ongoing empowerment initiatives of youth which is essential. Their digital skills, voices and experiences will add value to shaping the conversation around sexual and reproductive rights and services, pushing for a world where every young person, regardless of their background, can live a healthy, empowered life.”
She acknowledged the journey as one of overcoming obstacles and asserting the rights of youth, while also commending the SDG’s office for organizing the event.
The Director-General of the SDG’s office, Lydia Shehu, urged the youth to focus on training and apply the knowledge gained for the overall development of the state .
