Insecurity: Bauchi orders closure of schools

The Bauchi State Government has ordered the immediate temporary closure of all primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions—including Federal Government-owned schools as well as private schools with immediate effect.

According to a statement issued by the Information Officer of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education, Jalaluddeen Usman, the decision, though difficult, was taken by the Government of Bauchi State after extensive consultations and in response to overwhelming security concerns affecting the safety of students, teachers, and school communities across the state.
The statement explained that the government is fully aware of the inconvenience this closure may cause the citizens but the protection of children remains the highest moral responsibility of the State Government.
He added that every student in the State deserves to learn in an environment that is safe, stable, and free of fear.
The government therefore called on parents, guardians, school proprietors, and all concerned stakeholders not to panic, but to remain calm and cooperative, saying government is working closely with security agencies to address the concern swiftly and comprehensively, ensuring that normal academic activities will resume as soon as it is safe to do so.
The statement urged citizens to remain vigilant. If the see something, let them say something.
