ICAN Ends 2024, Rewards Akpa Paul, Rebo Usman, others in Taraba

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Jalingo & District Society have held its end of year 2024 Dinner with meritorious award on the Bursar of the Federal University Wukari (FUW), Chief Akpa Paul Hassan among other personalities.

Chief Akpa Paul Hassan who doubles as the Chairman of the occasion received his award during ICAN’s 2024 End-of-Year Dinner and Awards night held weekend at the Grand Shield Hotel Jalingo.
Chief Akpan our Correspondent gathered was awarded in recognition of his exceptional and strategic leadership and innovative contributions towards the growth of the district.
The Bursar received the award alongside Hon. Rebo Usman who received ICON of generational impact award, Dr. Victor Falac, Gabriel Olayinka, Luka Maza, Adiga, Alabade, etc all received awards during the ceremony.
Welcoming guests to ICAN’s 2024 End-of-Year Dinner and Awards Night in an address earlier, the Chairman, Jalingo & District society, Ibro Bala, ACA said the event was not only set aside to celebrate the achievements of the past year but also to honor the exceptional individuals and organizations that have supported and contributed to the growth of their district society since its inception in 2016.
Bala further disclosed that since the creation of the Jalingo and District Society, the society has journeyed together with resilience, innovation, and dedication.
“Our progress is a testament to the collaborative efforts of all our members, stakeholders, and partners. This year, we have made remarkable strides, from hosting impactful programs like the CATCH THEM YOUNG initiative to enlightening technical sessions that have enriched our professional knowledge and practice”,
“Through these programs, we have upheld the values of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria—Integrity, Accuracy, and Excellence. These milestones remind us of the important role we play in shaping the future of the accounting profession and contributing to nation-building”,
He added that the association deemed it fit and necessary to recognize ‘Excellence and Dedication’, with a view to reminding them that they have been pillars of support to the District Society.
“We celebrate their unwavering commitment, which has fueled our success. These awards are a token of our gratitude, a way of saying “thank you” for believing in our vision and contributing to its realization”, he said.
Bala also reiterated that the support of the awardees has been instrumental in making ICAN Jalingo a beacon of professionalism, adding that their contributions will remain etched in the history of Jalingo District and Society.
While calling on members to look beyond the box with a view to moving the accounting profession forward as 2025 draws closer, Bala harped on the need to inspire the next generation of Chartered Accountants, saying it is imperative to mentor young professionals, advancing our technical competencies and maintaining the highest ethical standards.

“I urge every member here tonight to continue to uphold the values of ICAN, champion integrity in all endeavors, and contribute actively to the growth of our district society”, he added.
Speaking in an interview shortly with Journalists, Dr. Rebo Usman appreciated ICAN, Jalingo and District Society for the honour and recognition bestowed on them.

“The young ones should continue with the work, those that are stronger and younger than us should also come out with their own ideas, on how more and more people will become Chartered Accountants in the State”, he added.
