IBSDLEIP Organizes Training for Women on Backyard Vegetable Gardening

The Taraba State Inclusive Basic Service Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Program has organized a two-day training workshop on home gardening.

The opening session of the training exercise was held in Jalingo the state capital and the training focused on backyard vegetable gardening aimed at enhancing livelihood and income generation.

The training brought together sixty-four women participants from the 16 Local Government Areas of Taraba State.

The Taraba State Project Coordinator of Inclusive Basic Service Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Program, Mr. Julius Tubasen Awudu, stated that the training will equip selected women from the 16 Local Government areas of Taraba State with practical skills to enhance food security, improve household nutrition, and create additional income sources for women in the state.

According to him, the participants will step down the training to various women groups at the grassroots level across all Local Government Areas.

The women have new innovative skills to improve their livelihood and sources of income.

He expressed gratitude to Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas for his visionary leadership and unwavering support that positively impacts the lives of grassroots people, and appreciated the African Development Bank for its steadfast collaboration in making such programs a reality.

In separate remarks, the Taraba State Inclusive Basic Service Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Program’s Team Lead for Health, Mrs Mercy Maigoge, and Engr. Calvin Daniel Sati, Team Lead for Livelihood, along with Dr. Chui Azuaga, lead facilitator of the training from the Department of Vocational and Technology Education’s Agric Education unit at Taraba State University Jalingo, emphasized the benefits of the training for participants.

Some participants expressed gratitude to the government for the initiative, noting that the training is empowering them with new innovations and assured the organisers that they will take full advantage of the training to better their lives.
