Herders/Farmers Clashes: Taraba Assembly Member Calls For Calm

The Member representing Karim Lamido 2 Constituency at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon Anas Shuaibu Didango has expressed sadness over the recent hostilities between herders and farmers in Darofai ward of Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the state.
Hon Anas Shuaibu Didango made his feelings known during a meeting he summoned with the Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government, Bitrus Ilu Danjos, security chiefs in the area, Village Heads, Ardos and youths among others in a bit to find a lasting solution to the crisis between herders and farmers not only in his constituency but karim Lamido Local Government at large.
Both the farmers and the herders have been counting their losses after the recent hostility in Budu lara, Banyam in Darofai ward of Karim II constituency in Karim Lamido Local Government area of the State.
According to the Legislator, the meeting was also aimed at identifying with the people and to sue for peace to forestall any further breakdown of law and order as the area is persistently passing through series of security threats.

The House of Assembly Member charged the warring parties to co-exist peacefully with one another, urging them to shield their swords for the sake of peace.
He stressed the importance of dialogue and understanding and urged both the herders and farmers in the area to commit to the part of peace to achieve meaningful development.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Karim Lamido Local Government, Hon Bitrus Ilu Danjos and the entire Heads of Security agencies in Karim Lamido Local Government Area lamented the reoccurring crisis in the area, calling on the various ethnic groups to take part of peace which he described as cornerstone for meaningful development in any society.
They charged all the people of the area to be promoters of peace for the sake of harmonious living, adding that peace is a non negotiable factor in all communities.
Some of the village heads that spoke during the meeting, appreciated the efforts of Hon Anas Shuaibu Didango to restore peace in the area.
The House of Assembly Member and his entourage also visited the Bambur General Hospital to ascertain the number of casualties recorded in the clashes and equally condoled with the families of the bereaved in Bambur community.
