Health Practitioners Urge Bauchi Govt To Uplift Health Institutions

The Bauchi State Government has been urged to uplift the standard of the state’s owned health institutions to compete favourably with their counterparts across across the country.
The National Registrar of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Alhaji Bashir Idris made the appeal during the opening of a national scientific conference of the union held in Bauchi.
Alhaji Idris emphasized that the institutions when equipped with the state of art equipment and quality personnel will train students who will man the 323 health centers across the state.
He stressed that recruitment of trained and qualified personnel are crucial to ensure effective supervision of primary health care centres to reduce maternal mortality and infant morbidity rates.
Describing community health workers as a critical stakeholders to combat maternal mortality, Bashir Idris urged them to always update their knowledge and skills in conformity see with modern techniques.
In a remark, the National President of the Association, Kabiru Yahaya called on the state government to incorporate community health workers into their pre-service training schemes.
Kabiru Yahaya also encouraged parents and guardians to enroll their children into accredited institutions to avoid waste of resources.
He noted that the theme of this year’s conference, “Community Based Strategies for Reducing Maternal and Child Mortality,” is apt considering the alarming rate of maternal deaths resulting from pregnancy related complications among women.
The five days conference attracted participants from across the country.
