The Chairman of the forum,Engineer Markus Natina Gundiri who led a high powered delegation for a Press Conference in Yola, the Adamawa state Capital said, granting a state pardon to Mr.Sunday by the Governor would not only save his life, but democracy as the victim has already been incarcerated for ten years while his case went through the courts.

Gundiri who was emotional and emphatic told the Press that the convicted farmer’s family has been ruined as his wife has already re-married to another person while he has a 10- year old daughter who was born shortly after his arrest that he has never set eyes on her.

“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(as amended) designed within its corpus a provision under section 212 to give the Chief Executive of a State the power to exercise his prerogative of mercy to pardon, grant respite to, or remit in whole or part any sentence imposed by the courts”.

“Jackson was going about his business of working to earn a living when the herder accosted him.

Jackson was unarmed at the time of the encounter. The harder was the aggressor.

The harder had without any provocation from Jackson, attacked him with dangerous weapon and inflicted injuries upon him on the back of his head and leg. In the struggle that ensued, Jackson wrested the knife with which the harder attacked him and inflicted blows on him that proved fatal”
