Governor Kefas Calls for Collective Action on Security in Taraba State

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reiterated the urgent need for peace and collective security efforts across the state, emphasizing that without security, development in key sectors cannot be sustained.
The governor stressed this today during a high-level security meeting held at the banquet hall of TY Danjuma House, Jalingo.
Governor Kefas described the gathering as a strategic and urgent engagement necessitated by recent security challenges facing the country and Taraba State in particular.
According to him, the objective of the meeting is to formulate and implement a comprehensive security strategy that would protect the lives and property of citizens.
The governor identified multiple threats confronting the state, including infiltration from neighboring states and the Cameroon border, criminal activities linked to unregulated mining and logging, and rising insecurity in motor parks, worship centers, and markets.
He stressed that the responsibility of securing the state must not rest on security agencies alone but on every citizen.
Governor Kefas also expressed concern over illegal mining activities in the state, warning that mining remains suspended and that ongoing secret operations will not be tolerated.
The Governor said he is aware of silent mining activities taking place warning all illegal miners to desist and be patient as the government works on formal processes.
In his earlier remarks, Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, commended Governor Kefas for his unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies.
He noted the provision of essential logistics such as vehicles and gadgets to boost operational efficiency.
The meeting brought together heads of security agencies, traditional leaders, and other key stakeholders.
