Governor Agbu Kefas Says Taraba State is Enjoying Relative Peace

Governor Agbu Kefas says Taraba State is currently enjoying relative peace, attributing the development to deliberate efforts by his administration to prioritize security.
The Governor made the remarks while receiving the Chief of defence Operations, Nigerian Army, Major General Emeka Onumajuru, who paid him a courtesy visit at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Governor Kefas recalled that upon assuming office, the state was grappling with serious security challenges, including kidnapping and other criminal activities.
He explained that he took it upon himself to address the situation, stressing that the protection of lives and property remains his primary responsibility.
He further disclosed that he had personally written to the Chief of Defence Staff, requesting the deployment of a drone joint platoon with technological support to monitor Taraba’s border areas.
He also urged the military to extend operations to neighbouring states sharing boundaries with Taraba, including Adamawa, Bauchi, and Plateau.
Governor Kefas commended the troops of the 6 Brigade for their relentless efforts in maintaining peace across the state.
In his remarks, Major General Onumajuru said the purpose of his visit was to assess the security situation in Taraba, review the performance of troops, and explore areas for improvement.
He explained that Sector 3 of the Nigerian Army was established to enhance security in the region and noted that the situation in Taraba had significantly improved.
According to him, residents are now freely going about their civil responsibilities without fear.
The Chief of Operations commended Governor Kefas for the tremendous support given to the Army, adding that the successes recorded in the state were largely due to such supports.
After the meeting, Governor Kefas in company of Major General Emeka Onumajuru and other Officers Commissioned 8 AV amour trucks and 4 flying boats aimed at sustaining the fight against criminality.
