By Henry Agbu
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has assured motorists using the Jalingo-Wukari road that construction work on the collapsed Namnai Bridge will begin in March this year.
During a site visit to assess the situation, Governor Kefas announced that Craneburg Construction Company would mobilize to the site next month to evaluate the damage and implement temporary measures for motorists.
The Governor explained that the construction company would first create a temporary passage to ease movement before commencing the full reconstruction of the bridge.
Earlier, Abubakar Sadiq, Chairman of Gassol Local Government Area, briefed the governor on the hardships faced by motorists due to the bridge collapse.
He noted that for the past six months, commuters had resorted to using canoes to cross to the other end, underscoring the urgency of the intervention.
The governor’s visit and the planned intervention brings hope to road users who have endured significant challenges along the route.
