Gov Kefas Launches Taraba Seed Production Company in Lau

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has officially launched the Taraba Seed Production Limited, a state-backed initiative designed to produce hybrid and climate-resilient seedlings for farmers.
The project was unveiled in Lau Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen the agricultural value chain and guarantee farmers’ access to high-quality, certified seeds.
Governor Kefas said the initiative reflects his administration’s firm commitment to the socio-economic development of Taraba State, noting that agriculture remains a critical driver of growth and food security.
He disclosed plans to construct the road linking Lau to other parts of the state to improve access and stimulate economic activities in the area.
The governor urged residents to take ownership of the project by actively participating in and safeguarding it to ensure sustainability.
He also encouraged eligible residents to register in the ongoing APC e-registration exercise to enable them benefit from government development programmes.
Governor Kefas further directed the company managing the project to fully engage host communities in its operations.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Professor Nicholas Nemesan, said the company would go beyond seed production to play a broader role in agricultural development across the state.
Representatives of Taraba Seed Production Limited explained that the project would focus on the multiplication, processing, and distribution of improved seed varieties to farmers.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Lau Local Government Area, Julius Peter Vau, commended Governor Kefas for his developmental efforts in the area and called on residents to continue supporting his administration.
