In a landmark move, Governor of Taraba state, Dr. Agbu Kefas has begun the  remodeling of the General Sani Abacha State Secretariat in Jalingo since its construction in 1993.

The contract for the remodeling of the secretariat awarded to a reputable company, ERADAPPA and ASSOCIATES LTD, is set to bring modernity and comfort to the state’s civil service hub.

Upon taking office in May 2023, Governor Kefas paid an assessment visit to the Secretariat and pledged to remodel it, aiming to enhance the daily operations and well-being of civil servants.

Mr. Tanko Ayuba a civil servant who spoke to our correspondent said, “True to his word, the governor initiated the multi-billion Naira renovation project, which is now well underway.”

Resident Architect to the project, Ignatius Agbese in a chat with journalists in Jalingo assured that the remodeled Secretariat would be among the finest in the country, featuring a new three-story building with a lift and other modern facilities.

“This place is the face of Taraba,” Agbese stated. “We are determined to deliver the best quality to give the state the image it truly deserves.”

Some civil servants who expressed their happiness and gratitude for the Governor Kefas’s commitment, said the remodeled Secretariat will give workers a pride of place.

On his part, Mr. John Adi, added, “Former Governor Darius Ishaku visited and promised renovations, but nothing happened. Governor Kefas has matched his words with action, and we are grateful.”

The remodeled Secretariat is expected to be a beacon of progress, providing improved accommodations for civil servants and some members of the state executive council.

The remodeling of the Secretariat is one of Governor Kefas’s forward-thinking leadership examples and a commitment to investing in public infrastructure.

A public affairs analyst and journalist, Mr. Justin Tyopuusu told reporters that the remodeling of the General Sani Abacha State Secretariat among other massive public infrastructure being undertaken by the Governor is not just an upgrade of public infrastructure in the state, but a symbol of a brighter future for the state.
