GOV AGBU KEFAS’ HISTORIC DEFECTION TO APC: ALL ROADS LEAD TO JALINGO
By Hassan Garba
Saturday, January 31, 2026, marks a historic milestone in the political evolution of Taraba State, as the Governor, His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas officially defects to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The landmark event, scheduled to take place at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, is expected to attract prominent political figures and dignitaries from across the country.
At the top of the list of expected guests are Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; the President of the Senate; the Speaker of the House of Representatives; the National Chairman of the APC; Some Governors of the APC, as well as other top government functionaries and party leaders from far and near.
They will formally receive and welcome Governor Agbu Kefas into the APC.
Governor Agbu Kefas’ defection is both historic and symbolic.
Since the return to democratic governance in 1999, Taraba State has been governed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His move marks the first time in 27 years that the leadership of the state will change political allegiance, effectively replacing the PDP flag at the Government House with that of the APC.
Political observers believe the Governor’s defection will significantly reshape the political landscape of the state.
Many view his leadership as a major boost to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, with expectations that he will play a decisive role in the party’s electoral fortunes.
As anticipation builds, all roads indeed lead to Jalingo for what is set to be one of the most significant political events in the history of Taraba State.
Don’t wait to be told. Be part of this historic event and support the realignment to the APC for a more prosperous and progressive Taraba state.
