Gombe ALGON, Rotary Club Flag off Polio Immunisation

The Gombe State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON in collaboration with Rotary Club Kaltungo has flagged off Polio Immunisation across the State.

Flogging of the campaign in Kaltungo, Chairman of the Council, Mr Iliya Suleiman in company of councillors, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders appealed for people’s cooperation to ensure success of the exercise.

Mr Iliya Suleiman regretted that Poliomyelitis has surfaced again in Nigeria after certification by the World Health Organisation WHO.

He said it is more worrisome that some cases were reported in Gombe State, calling for collective actions by all well meaning Nigerians to once again free the country from this menace.

The Chairman therefore warned parents against any form of rejection of the vaccine as according to him necessary measures are being put in place to safeguard the health future of the younger generation.

While appreciating Rotary club Kaltungo for robust commitment to the good of humanity, Mr Iliya assured his council’s support for a successful campaign.

In his remark, the representative of the World Health Organisation Muawiya Usman acknowledged the critical role of Rotary in promoting quality lives to people.

The representative of the Mai Kaltungo and the Magijin Garin Kaltungo an ardent advocate of Children and Women’s Health and Education restated commitment of the Royal father in ensuring that no child below age five years is left behind.

He tasked wards and village heads to ensure prompt reporting of all challenges or any form of threat to smooth conduct of the Immunisation exercise in their respective domains for immediate action.

Other Speakers include the representatives of State Ministry of health, Primary Health Care Development Agency and the local government Primary Health Care Department who assured of working assiduously so that every eligible child in local government is immunise within the period of the exercise.
