GMCN: John Auta Takes Over As New Bishop

The outgone Bishop Emeritus of the Global Methodist Church of Nigeria, GMCN, John Wesley Yohanna has officially handed over the office to the New Bishop, John Pena Auta to pillot the affairs of the church.

The investiture programme took place at the GMCN, Secretariat Mile Six Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital with a large turn of members who came to witness the occasion.

In his address at the event, the outgone Bishop of the Global Methodist Church,GMCN, John Wesley Yohanna Munga thanked God almighty for sustaining the Church, adding that he was able to administer the affairs of the church to the end through grace of God.

John Wesley said though the tenure has not been easy due to several challenges mounted on the Church at different angles but God has proven supreme at all times.

He called on those who broke away because of regionalization teachings to embrace Christianity to make heaven, appreciating the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas and his Gombe counterpart, Inuwa Yahaya for the proactive steps on security and support of the Church.

He equally thanked the members for standing tall to ensure that the work of God progresses.

In his comments, the new Bishop, John Pena Auta solicited for prayers to enable him succeed in the Ministry.

He reminded the members that it is their collective responsibilities to run the race together to fulfill the commission of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He appreciated the confidence of the council of Bishops and members for the confidence reposed on him.

In their various goodwill messages, the Reverend Simon Jatutu encouraged the new Bishop John Pena Auta to be strong in God to work with people, stressing that the office is surrounded with responsibilities and challenges that need spiritual strength to paddle the work.

On his part,Hilkiya Buba Joda Mafindi stressed the need for the new Bishop to take the path of servant leader which is the right key to success, adding that the foundation of Christianity is built on service both to humanity and God.

The Reverend John Pena is appointed to oversee the Northeast and Southern Conferences of Nigeria, Georgia Conference in the United States of America among some other six conferences.
