Our sports correspondent reports that the medal was won by former African badminton champion, Ephraimu Bulus Jinkam, who announced his retirement from active sports immediately after the event.

The Taraba State badminton team secured a silver medal after narrowly losing to their counterparts from Niger State in the Men’s Doubles final, with a close score of 22-24 points.

Ephraimu Bulus Jinkam explained that his decision to retire is aimed at creating space for nurturing young, talented athletes to shine and develop their skills.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Agbu Kefas for prioritizing sports development in the state.

Commenting on the achievement, Technical Director Tunde Kasim praised Jinkam, describing him as a humble and committed athlete who takes his duties seriously.

Our correspondent added that Taraba State athletes remain in high spirits and are optimistic about winning more medals as the festival progresses.
