Gateway Games: Jehu Habila’s Gold Medal in Chess raises team Bauchi’s position in the current Medal Table

The Day Seven of the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival tagged Gateway Games, taking place in Abeokuta Ogun State, has thrown the Camp of Bauchi Contingents into joy and excitement as the long awaited Gold medal came from Chess.
The impressive and outstanding performance of Jehu Habila Thomas in the Chess Team Board 3 event earned him first Gold Medal to lift Bauchi state up in the current Medal Table, after demonstrable success play in Six rounds.
The Team Bauchi Camp was turned to a jubilation galore with expectations to raise the flag of Bauchi as the National Sports Festival progresses..
Reacting on the Jehu Thomas’s Gold Medal, the Overseeing Director of sports Ado Tanko, expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the opportunity, saying God’s time is the best.
“We expected Golds, before now due to the caliber of athletes we assembled. “Our conference remains intact, we will make Bauchi state proud. He said.
According to Ado Tanko, ” We are gradually moving forward, we have shifted upward from the National Sports Festival current Medal Table with One Gold Medal, One Silver and Two bronze.
While Commending the brilliant performance of the State Female Handball team for competing to the quarter finals, he said the the reasons for participation in a national meet like this was not only to win medals but to encourage National Unity and the athletes to showcase their talents for usage in future national and international competitions.
It is in light of these development that, despite the Bauchi Female Handball team exit, at quarter finals of the ongoing Gateway Games, that the overseeing director of sports Ado Tanko proudly unfolded to sports journalists the names of 5 Handball players from the state female team, selected and invited to the national camp to be opened in Abuja, shortly after the successful completion of the ongoing national sports festival.
The successful athletes are Rejoice Ranson, Helper Stephen, Precious Aloysius, Glory Michael Ade and Joseph Iyaniwura.
