FrontFoot Media Initiative to train journalists on Audit Reporting

A media and capacity-building Non Governmental Organization NGO, known as FrontFoot Media Initiative, has completed arrangement to train about forty journalists on Audit reporting.
A Press release signed by the training coordinator, Chido Nwakanma, and issued to journalists, indicates that the training program which comes up from 23-25, would be hosted by Gombe State.
The release also indicates that the Media and capacity-building program would feature participants not only from Gombe but also from the neighbouring states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Plateau, and Taraba.
It held that the training program which is going to be the fifth edition had it previous trainings held in Benin, Awka, Abuja, and Lagos.
In an earlier Press briefing, the Director of FrontFoot Media, Mr Emeka Izeze, had explained that the program was a testament to the inclusivity and reach of FrontFoot’s training initiatives which aimed at training media personnel to be apt on the emerging field of Media Audit Reporting in journalism.
He disclosed that Gombe State Governor, Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya may address participants in line with an agenda of openness and accountability and the expert facilitators include Mr Ismaila Zakari, a past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an ICAN fellow along side Yusuf Doma, an FCA and audit expert with Premium Pensions Limited, Abuja.
“Their expertise and guidance will ensure a high-quality learning experience for all participants.
“This program is supported by Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism and the sponsorship of the MacArthur Foundation. It is a flagship capacity development programme of FrontFoot Media Initiative and a Collaborative Media Engagement for Development, Inclusivity and Accountability project.
“In this effort, FrontFoot teams, accompanied by experts in the field, work in pre-selected states where they conduct free training for journalists. Participants learn how and where to locate the relevant reports, interpret the material, and write engaging news stories and features that enlighten, stimulate, and empower the electorate, and discourage impunity.”
