Former Taraba Gov, Jolly Nyame Marks 70th Birthday

Former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Tavoro Nyame, has celebrated his 70th birthday, attracting goodwill messages from supporters, associates, and residents of the state who remembered his years in public service.
Nyame served as governor from 1999 to 2007 and was a prominent political figure during the early years of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.
His administration focused on civil service reforms, infrastructural development, and promoting unity among Taraba State’s diverse ethnic and religious groups.
His background as a cleric before entering politics influenced his leadership style and public engagement.
During his tenure, the state recorded growth in road construction, education, and public institutions, particularly in Jalingo and other major towns.
Despite controversies that followed his time in office, Nyame remains a notable figure in Taraba’s political history, with supporters acknowledging his contributions while reflecting on lessons from his public life.
The 70th birthday celebration was held at Crest Hall, No. 22 Road House Street, Jalingo.
Dignitaries at the event included the Taraba State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Williams Peter Awoshiri; HRH Pst. Haniel Hinlewheni Banti, the Kpan Sanwi of Sanwi Chiefdom; retired General Jeremiah Aliyu Faransa; the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area, Hon. Nura Dantsoho; Prof. Jerome Nyameh; and several other guests.
Friends and admirers offered prayers, reflections, and goodwill messages, wishing the former governor good health and peace in the years ahead.
