Focus on peoples oriented governance to sustain PDP – Kefas advises Appointees

Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has advised all the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) officials elected into various positions in the State to execute projects that have direct bearings om the lives of the people of the State.

Kefas, who also urged all his appointees to do same with a view to focusing on peoples’ oriented governance, said such will ginger and boost the morale of the electorates to continue to believe in the party during elections.
The governor expressed worry that politicians hardly fulfill campaign promises made to the electorates which according to him discourage them from having confidence in such politicians during future elections.
Dr. Agbu Kefas, who spoke during a PDP’s caucus meeting held at Government House Jalingo reminded politicians in power that they were elected to provide good governance to the people hence the need for them to continue to do the needful, describing it as the only way PDP winning streak will be maintained in the State.
“We are going to do something different. We are already focusing on people orientated governance than politics so that the people of Taraba will not be tired of PDP”, he said.
The governor further informed the gathering that his administration will continue to provide good governance and maintain a clear line between politics and governance in the interest of the people of the State.
Kefas also emphasized the need for party leaders to return to their respective wards and develop a consensus list of Ward and Local Government Council executives ahead of the state congress of the party slated for August this year.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, former Minister of Finance, Amb. Idris Waziri said the party during the meeting zoned key positions of the State Working Committee to the three zones to ensure balance and inclusivity of all stakeholders of the party in the state.
According to him, the State Party Chairman, Elder Nuhu Abe presented the guidelines and timetable for the upcoming PDP Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses on behalf of the committee, which was adopted at the meeting.
Sources at the meeting also informed our correspondent that a committee within the State Working Committee that was tasked with zoning various party offices for the upcoming State Congress also submitted their report to the Governor for final approval.
The meeting also affirmed that the Vice Chairmen of North, Central, and Southern zone who are currently serving their first term will continue in their roles.
