Flood predictions: Gombe SEMA embarks on sensitization tour to 5 Prone LGAs.

Following the 2024 flood prediction by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (Nimet) in which 5 LGA’s in State are said to be susceptible to flood disaster, the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA have embarked on a sensitization campaign to the affected LGAs.
The LGAs include Kwami, Dukku, Yalmatu-Deba Gombe and Funakaye.
The sensitization campaign by the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA comes at the heels of an earlier training organize by the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA in conjunction with the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA held on the 12th of June 2024.
To this end, the Gombe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA led by its Executive Secretary Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi Bakoza had today Thursday embarked on an enlightenment tour to the flood risk Local Government Areas.
During the course of the campaign, the Executive Secretary is expected to meet with critical stake holders to at the various Local Government Areas to include council officials, traditional and religious leaders, members of Civil society organisation and representative of disabled persons.
Issues bordering on flood prevention and mitigation are expected to top agenda at the various meetings where the Executive Secretary of SEMA Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi stress on the need for residents not to use water channel as refuse dump sites among other issues.
He also commended the State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for placing premium on the environment and giving the Agency all the necessary support to succeed.
The team visited Kwami and Funakaye Local Government and will also visit Dukku, Gombe and Yamaltu Deba in its subsequent engagements.
