FedPoly Bali Management Interacts With Taraba Assembly Members On Institution’s Progress

The Management team of the Federal Polytechnic, Bali in Taraba State under the leadership of its Rector, Dr.Mohammed Usman, on Thursday interacted with the two Members representing Bali 1 and 2 at the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Veronica Alhassan and Hon. Hamman Adama Abdullahi Dakka in that order.
The interface was necessitated by the desire of the Management of the institution to explore all possible avenues, including collaborating with authorities and individuals for the progress of the Polytechnic.
The interactive session was initiated by the Bali Connect Forum, a Bali Local Government Areas Progressive Forum which was recently established.
The Forum had earlier paid a familiarization visit to the Rector where the idea to facilitate contact with the critical stakeholders of Bali Local Government Area and the state government came up.
Briefing the Members, the Rector intimated them on the contributions of the institution to the educational, economic, human and material as well as socio economic development of the area in particular, Taraba State and the nation in general since its inception in 2008.
He however, lamented that despite the numerous contributions, the institution is confronted with some challenges which are serving as hindrances to its smooth operations.
The Rector identified some of the challenges as non payment of compensation to land owners, absence of electricity and support from the state government among others.
He disclosed that the Taraba State Government generates over 20 million naira monthly from the institution as Pay As You Earn, PAYE which is being remitted promptly.
The Rector commended the state Governor’s commitment to educational development, soliciting for the state government’s support towards addressing the problems of the institution.
Responding on behalf of the two Assembly Members, Hon. Hamman Adama Abdullahi who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, appreciated the Management of the Polytechnic for the rapid development recorded in terms of infrastructure and academic programmes, which were achieved within the shortest period of the establishment of the Institution when compared with sister institutions established at the same time.
The Members promised to intimate the Governor about the predicament of the institution with the aim of finding lasting solutions to the problems.
The Deputy Speaker stressed his confidence in Governor Agbu Kefas as a leader who is capable of doing the needful when provided with the right information in line with his educational agenda.
The Chairman of Bali Connect and the Registrar of the Institution, Tukur Lamido expressed gratitude for the audience and the zeal and determination shown by the two Members of the Taraba State House of Assembly towards the development and progress of the Polytechnic.
