FedPoly Bali: Computer Science Dept Wins 2025 Rector’s Cup

The Computer Science Department of the Federal Polytechnic Bali in Taraba State has won the 2025 Rector’s Cup after defeating the Department of Public Administration by two goals to nothing in the finals of the male category football match.


The Second-half goals from Sangari Useni and Abubakar Isa proved decisive in sealing the title for the tech-driven team.

The Department of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) claimed the Registrar’s Cup after an impressive run in the female category, further cementing the School of Science’s dominance in this year’s inter-departmental tournaments.

The Science Laboratory Technology Development defeated the Business Administration and Management by two to nothing through a penalty shoot out.


The interdepartmental football competition was held at the Sports Complex of the institution.


The grand closing ceremony was conducted by the Deputy Rector, Engr. Abubakar Sani, who represented the Rector, Dr. Mohammed Usman.


He commended all the participating teams for their sportsmanship and dedication, highlighting the role of sporting activities in fostering unity and promoting physical well-being within the academic community.

He assured that the management of the Polytechnic will continue to support sporting activities, revealing that next year’s event will feature more games including handball, Volleyball and Badminton among others.


The event witnessed the presence of notable dignitaries, including representatives of Knoting Technologies Nigeria Ltd, co-sponsors of the tournament, alongside top management staff, Deans, Heads of Departments, students, and members of the host community who turned out in large numbers to support and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship.

Speaking in an interview, the Head Coach of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Hassan Tanko, said the competition was aimed at strengthening unity mong the students and staff, reminding the students that sports is a curricular activity.


He used the forum to appreciate UTL Technology Limited who provided 4 sets of jersey T- shirts and Tracksuits to the sports management committee, adding that the management did excellent job in supporting and contributing to the success of the competition.


In separate interviews, the Captain of the winning team for the Rector’s Cup and that of Registrar’s Cup, all appreciated the leadership of the Polytechnic and the sports management committee for the excellent organization and given them the opportunity to showcase their sporting abilities.


Those who also graced the final event include the Acting Librarian, Mr Daniel Marke, the former Bursar, Dr Abdu Yakubu, the Director of Physical Planning, Engr Umar Abba, Director, Academic Planning, Dr Yahaya Tukur, Director UTL Technologist Limited and the Deputy Registrar Information and Protocol, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Baba and others.


The 2025 editions of both the Rector’s Cup and the Registrar’s Cup will be remembered not only for the display of talent and energy but also for the unity it fostered across schools and departments.
