Fed lawmaker, Useni condemns gruesome killing of Monarch, Son in Taraba

Taraba National Assembly lawmaker, Rt. Hon. Mark Bako Useni, representing Takum, Donga and Ussa federal constituency has condemned in strong terms the gruesome killing of the Gara of Chanchanji, HRH Abdul Hamid and his son Yusuf Hamid by unknown gunmen.

Rt. Hon. Useni, who was the former speaker of the State House of Assembly and also served as the Executive Chairman of Takum local government area of the State described the news of the death of the Paramount Ruler as a rude shock.
He lamented that the killing happened at the time the people from the area have started experiencing peace and had returned to their farming activities.

“I have received the news of the brutal killing of the Chief of Chanchanji, Abdul Hamid Y. Kumgbera and his son Yusuf Abdul Hamid with rude shock”.
“This dastardly act is condemnable especially at such a time that the area is experiencing peace while farmers engage in farming activities and business are beginning to thrive”, he said.
Rt. Hon. Useni while commending the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas for taking proactive measures in containing the escalation of security breaches as a result of the incident, disclosed that the Gara, the 3rd class Chief of the area was murdered on his way from Takum to chanchanji.
“I wish to commend the state Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas for the immediate security steps he has taken to keep the area peaceful”.
“I enjoyed a good working relationship with the late Monarch dating back to 20 years ago when I was the chairman of Takum local government area. He was a lover of his people and was committed to peace and community development”.
“I urge our security services to rise up to the situation by ensuring that the perpetrators of this wicked act are arrested and brought to face the wrath of the law”.
“I urge the people of Chanchanji and indeed Takum Local Government to remain calm and law abiding as government will take steps to ensure security of the whole area”, he added.
