Ex-Jigawa Councillors Commend Defense Minister’s Legacy with Award of Appreciation

The Forum of Elected Former Councillors, who served during the administration of former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, have paid a courtesy visit to him at his residence in Kano.

During the visit, they honoured him with a plaque of appreciation in recognition of his exceptional role as the first Governor to pay all outstanding severance allowances owed to local government councillors in the state, dating back from 1999 to 2023.

The award presentation took place on Friday, 20th June 2025, at his residence in Kano.

While presenting the award, the Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Mustafá Isyaku Sholy, said the gesture was made on behalf of all former councillors in the state as a token of appreciation for the goodwill and support they enjoyed during Mohammed Badaru Abubakar’s tenure as Governor of Jigawa State.

The Forum members reaffirmed their unwavering support and loyalty to the former Governor, who is currently serving as the Minister of Defence, pledging their continued solidarity with him in all his political endeavours within Jigawa State.

The visit of the Forum, according to Mati Ali, the Personal Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, was witnessed by the Member representing Hadejia Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Jallo and the former Chairman of Gumel Local Government, Alhaji Ahmed Rufai Gumel.
