English Premier League: Liverpool FC Maintains Lead

Liverpool FC has continued its dominance in the English Barclays Premier League with a 3-2 win against Southampton, opening up an 8-point gap on the league log.


Liverpool opened the scoring in the 30th minutes of the first half through Dominik Szoboszlai while Adam Armstrong levelled up for the home team in the 42th minutes in the 56th minutes turn a provider as he assisted Mateus Fernandes to take the lead but Liverpool roared back in the 65 minutes to level up bringing the score to 2-2 through their talisman, Mohammed Salah who also scored the winning goal in the 83 minutes which enable Liverpool FC to pull clear of Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal who are all playing catch up.

Manchester City woe continues on the other hand as the Etihad landlord were handed their heaviest defeat in many years by Tottenham Hotspur, which hammered them by 4 unreplied goals.

The results clearly show the dip in form at the Manchester City camp as Pep Guardiola lost lost 5 matches in a row for the first time in his coaching career.

Arsenal FC returned to winning ways as they dispatched Nottingham Forest 3-0 with goals coming from Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey and sensational Ethan Nwanari, while Chelsea defeated Leicester City 2-1 in the early kickoff with Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez scoring for the Blues.

The much-anticipated match between Ipswich Town and Manchester United did not live up to expectations for the Red Devils fans and their new manager, Ruben Amorim who is taking charge for the first time since the sacking of Erik Ten Hag as it was the same old story for Manchester United and at the end of the match, they have to settle for a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town.

The results further exposed the decay in the Manchester United team leaving Ruben Amorim with a high mountain to climb to restore the lost glory of the old Trafford boys.

In the Spanish LA Liga FC Barcelona dropped two points on the road as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo losing the chance to extend their lead on the league table and the slip by FC Barcelona offered their arch rival Real Madrid the chance to close the gap between them to 4 points with an outstanding match against Valencia.

In the Italian Serie A, Napoli laboured hard to beat AS Roma 1-0 through a goal by Romalu Lukaku to return to the league summit of the Italian Serie A, which had earlier been occupied by Atalanta, while in the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich continue to maintain their dominance with a comfortable 3-0 drubbing of FC Augsburg with Harry Kane scoring a Hat trick goals.

Bayern Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, and the surprise package for the season, Eintracht Frankfurt, all recorded victories to pocket the three points at stake.
