Enconiums, emotions as Taraba NUJ pay condolence visit to Worldview Magazine Chapel

There was a gale of enconiums and emotions as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Taraba Council under the leadership of Comrade Eliud Matthew Jen paid condolence visit to Worldview Chapel over the demise of father of a staff and Assistant Secretary of the State Council, Mr. Jethro Yerga.
Speaking during the condolence visit, the Taraba State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Eliud Jen expressed deep sympathy over the over the loss of Pa Yerga stating that it is not easy to be an orphan.
He lamented that the pains of parting ways with parents and loved ones are huge hence, the reason for their visit.
“It is not easy to path with our parents especially when you know that you would never see them again that is why the Nigeria Union of Journalists, decided this very day to pay this very heart robe visit to the Worldview Magazine because a member of this very family in the person of Jethro Yerga, lost his father. An injury to one is injury to all.”
Comrade Jen disclosed that they were at Worldview Magazine not just for sympathy but also, for empathy.
”We feel that if a member of ours is rejoicing, we’ll rejoice with you and if our member is sad, we follow suite”.
He further prayed God to strengthen Mr. Jethro and his family.
In their separate goodwill messages, the NUJ Secretary, Comrade Simon Attah, SWAN Chairman, Sani Suleiman, former NUJ Chairman and National Trustee Zone E, Mr Lynn Adda, Worldview Managing Editor, Mr. Simon Ira Maiyaki, all condoled Mr. Jethro over his father’s death and urged him to stay united with his family especially at this trying moment of his life regardless of whatever challenge.
They also prayed God to grant Mr. Jethro and his family the fortitude to bear the loss, asking God to grant eternal rest unto the soul of Pa Yerga.
The NUJ Worldview Chapel Chairman, Mr. Yeri Akila Yerima on behalf of the Chapel, commended the NUJ chairman and his team for their visit, describing Mr. Eliud Jen as a good leader who has demonstrated competence and quality leadership in many regards.
He prayed God to grant the Chairman and his team more wisdom and strength to effectively pilot the affairs of the Union in the state even as he reiterates commitment to support the NUJ for more accomplishments.
However, the bereaved Worldview staff and NUJ State Assistant Secretary, Mr. Jethro Yerga, expressed gratitude to the State council for coming to condole with him stating that, their visit alone has given him much consolation and hope that he has a great family/people around him.
He noted that his father’s death alone would have been a thing of celebration because he lived a fulfilled life while on earth but the difficulty to return to his ancestral home in Wukari LGA of Taraba sate to bury his father as a result of the Tiv/Jukun crisis which has since displaced them, is what has aggravated his pains.
He therefore appealed to the NUJ to fashion out ways to help him and the entire Southern Taraba IDPs who are taking refuge in neighboring states.
On his part, the Editor-in chief of Worldview Magazine, Mr. William Ayooso, thanked the NUJ State Council led by Comrade Eliud Jen for their timely visit and consistent partnership with Worldview Magazine.
“We have people that we are proud of. I always tell people that Worldview Magazine is very unique. It is only in Worldview Magazine Chapel that we have former/current NUJ chairmen, publishers, seasoned Journalists and NUJ National leadership.”
He however, reaffirmed commitment to partner with NUJ stressing that, without NUJ, there would be no journalism just as there would be no journalism if there is no publishing.
“Ours is a bit of politics as a publishing firm and we are working together to see that the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas is promoted in good light.
“We have been doing that though, it doesn’t stop us from constructive criticism that, we assure that we will always do. We have a partner in doing that.
“The NUJ is also concerned about the quality of reportage that represent the Governor and government of Taraba state in good light even as we are determined to use our various mediums to tell the Governor/government of Taraba state where there are lapses,” he stated.
