Eid-El-Fitr: Taraba Gov Preaches Tolerance, Virtues

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has congratulated the Muslim ummah on this year’s successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
In a message to the state, contained in a Press Release by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Mr Emmanuel Bello, Dr. Kefas said the fasting period instilled in the adherents, the lessons of self-sacrifice, discipline, and obedience to the Will of the Almighty.
The Governor stressed that these lessons should remain with the community even after the end of the exercise, nothing that the spiritual exercise has also deepened the tolerance and cohesion of both faiths in the state.
He said it was heartwarming that Christians often share in the iftar activities of their Muslim friends and families- a strong indication of the spirit of togetherness.
Governor Kefas commended the peaceful coexistence in the state, stressing that our history has shown that we can live together as a people irrespective of our differences.
He urged all to continue tolerating one another, a condition common in a pluralistic societies.
The Governor further stressed the need for understanding, fellow feeling, and empathy, especially during tense periods in our nation’s history.
He urged the state not to be misled or drawn into any revenge mission, noting that the peace our state enjoys is one of the basis of development.
“My core belief is that God, our creator, knows what He has done to allow us to be born into different religions. If He wanted for only one faith in the world, He is capable of doing that. But by giving us various backgrounds, the Creator of the Universe wants us to explore our diversities and find a unity of purpose.”
Dr. Kefas maintained that Taraba state is a place for all the faiths and ethnic groups to see as home, reiterating that his government is committed to continue treating everyone equally with respect and decency and never on the basis of their tribe or religion.
