Educate your Girl Child, support her to rise – varsity lecturer admonishes parents

OKERAFOR ATHANATIUS, JALINGO
Parents of female children have been admonished to educate and support them to rise to greater heights.

Dr Rosethe Joel Rimamnde

A senior lecturer with the Taraba State University (TSU), Dr. Rimande Joel Rosethe gave the admonition while presenting a paper on the occasion of the graduation, speech and prize giving day ceremony of SS3, set of 2024/2025 students of the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Jalingo.
At the event held at the College dinning hall, Dr. Rosethe said every girl carries within her the potential to transform her community and country.
She said when a girl is educated and empowered, she builds a stronger and better community and prosperous nation.
She stressed that if the girl child is supported to rise, the nation rises.
“Let’s support every girl to rise because when she rises, the whole nation rises with her”, she said.
Speaking on the topic, “The Girl Child, A Tool for Nation Building”, Dr. Rosethe Rimamnde showcased the girl child’s role in nation building, saying her education is her power and that she should value it.
The University lecturer posited that, in building the nation, the girl child will first of all identify the tools she will use.
“She can build a nation through innovation, technology, skills and entrepreneurship. By acquiring skills and entrepreneurship, she can become financially independent, create jobs, help reduce poverty in her community and nation at large”,
“Education will help open doors of opportunities for her to become the person she wants to be in the future, her education is her power, she should value it, hold it dearly to her hearts”,
“Her role in building the nation, she has to believe in herself, never allow anybody silence her dreams”, she advised.
While advising the girl child to be responsible and believe in herself, Dr. Rosethe Rimamnde added, “you cannot build your nation if you are not responsible, what the boy child can do, you can do it and even far better”.
She however, appreciated the management of FGGC, Jalingo for providing the tools for the students.
In her address of welcome earlier, the Principal FGGC Jalingo, Mrs Isaac-Kure Justina Favour congratulated the graduating students for identifying with the college’s skills acquisition centre, saying the innovation would help them to be self reliant.
While commending the sacrifices of the parents of the graduating students and staff of the college, Mrs. Kure reiterated that FGGC, Jalingo under her watch for the past two years has remained a citadel of academic excellence with so much regard in discipline, hard work and strict adherence to religious and moral values.
