District Head of Antere Commends Taraba Gov for Supporting Chess at National Sports Festival

The District Head of Antere in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, Ibrahim Jando Bongfen, has commended Governor Agbu Kefas for providing financial support to the state chess club, enabling its participation in the recently concluded National Sports Festival held in Ogun State.

The traditional ruler gave the commendation while welcoming members of the Taraba State Chess Club in Jalingo.
He noted that this marks the first time Taraba State is participating in the game of chess at the national level, describing the development as both historic and encouraging.
According to him, chess is a noble game that promotes critical thinking and intellectual development.
He therefore called on the Director of Chess in the state to intensify efforts to expand the reach of the sport to the grassroots.
The District Head also appealed to parents to encourage their children to take an interest in chess, highlighting its global appeal and educational value.
“Chess is a game played all over the world. It is time we embrace it fully in Taraba State,” he stated.
