Community Leaders Commend Taraba Fed. Lawmaker Over Intervention In Public Schools

Community leaders in Tor-Damisa, Donga Local Government Area and Chanchanji in Takum Local Government Area, all located in the southern part of Taraba State, have commended the efforts of the Member Representing Takum/Donga/Ussa Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Mark Useni Bako over the construction of class room blocks and provision of learning materials to their communities.

Through his Educational Intervention Programme, the National Assembly Member has constructed and furnished 2 blocks of class rooms at Adanmgbe Primary school in Chanchanji ward, a public primary school that was founded since 1976 without government intervention in terms of structures.
He equally constructed 2 blocks of class rooms at Government Day Secondary School Tor-Damisa, a public secondary school that was founded since 1996 with no presence of government infrastructure.
Echo Express reports that the two communities are mainly dominated by Tiv speaking farmers.
The head of Tiv people in Donga (Ter Donga), Zaki Ugondu Umah who briefed the media at Tor-Damisa on Friday, lauded the intervention of Hon Mark Useni Bako, stressing that the construction of the 2 class room blocks has rekindled hopes of both students of the school and their parents.
He said “since the establishment of the Government Day Secondary School Tor-Damisa in 1996, no government has constructed a single block of office nor class room.
“We the community members have taken it open ourselves to make shelter for both the teachers and the students to encourage learning among our youths.
“The construction of the class rooms by our member house of representatives, Hon. Mark Bako Useni has rekindled the hope of our children, those who use to take their children outside this community have now enrolled them back, having seen that the school has gotten government attention”.
At the commissioning of the 2 blocks of class rooms at Adanmgbe in Chanchanji, a community leader, Elder Fater Maashi who spoke on behalf of the people of the area, revealed that the gesture is the first of its kind since the inception of the school in 1976.
“We are having a feeling of government intervention for the first time since inception of this school 1976, no government, no elected member both at the state or federal level has demonstrated this kind of gesture to us and our children.
“We have been accommodating our students under molding blocks which has scared so many parents away from the structures, with the 2 class rooms that are constructed by Hon. Useni, most people have returned their children back to school here since there is a comfortable structure where they can seat and learn, we are grateful sir. Maashi stated.
Findings have indicated that the Hon. Mark Useni’s Education Intervention Programme has been felt across the three local government areas that make up the Constituency, Takum, Donga and Ussa, with construction of class rooms and provision of learning materials.
