Come With Ideas To Transform TSTC – Commissioner Tells Board

The Taraba State Commissioner for Transport Development, Mr Yakubu Samaila Yakubu has challenged the newly inaugurated board of the Taraba State Transport Corporation, to come up with ideas that will lead to the revival of the Agency.
The Commissioner threw the challenge on Tuesday in his office in Jalingo, the State capital while exchanging views with the Chairman and members of the board who paid him a courtesy call.
He said though the State Government is working out a comprehensive plan for the transformation of the transport sector of the state, the input of the board members will also enrich the efforts being proposed.
The Commissioner announced that the law establishing the TSTC is obsolete and presently undergoing a review at the Taraba State House of Assembly.
Hon Yakubu who said the Agbu Kefas administration has transformed the Danbaba Suntai Airport with modern facilities,, stressed that the entire transport sector of the state is being overhauled to make it viable to serve the people and generate revenue for the government.
He said the transformation will also cover the introduction of the school buses with the already erected bus stops at strategic locations to intra city and inter City transportation, all to be managed by the TSTC.
The Commissioner called on all the recently inaugurated appointees to give the Governor the needed support to achieve the desired objectives.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Genesis Kwantar, said though the appointment of the Board members are on a part time basis, they have a great role to play in the state government’s roadmap for the revival of the transportation sector, noting that all the buses currently at the TSTC premises belong to individuals and groups.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the TSTC board, Hon Daniel Emmanuel Angyu, said they were at the Commissioner’s office to register their presence and give assurance of their commitment to serve the state.
While pledging their support to Governor Kefas’s efforts to develop the transport sector, the Chairman spoke of their willingness to work closely with the Ministry to achieve the desired results.
A member of the board, Hon Terna Nzamber, said the board members are conscious of their responsibilities as politicians and will work for the success of the administration.
