Collapsed Namnai Bridge: Taraba Govt To Liaise With Stakeholders For Speedy Work

The Taraba State Commissioner of Works, Hon. Moseh Luka has reiterated the commitment of the Taraba State Government to liaise with the relevant stakeholders to address the recent collapse of the Namnai bridge in Gassol local government area of Taraba state.
The Commissioner, flanked by the Coordinator Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) boss, Gassol Local Government Chairman among others visited the site of the bridge to assess the damage and outlined a plan of action.
The Commissioner of works, Hon Moseh Luka who expressed shock and concern, said the disaster is a stark reminder of the importance of prioritizing infrastructure maintenance.
The commissioner said he has been given a mandate by the Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to take full responsibility for ensuring the safety of roads and bridges, adding that, they will take concrete steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
Consequently, the Commissioner announced an immediate investigation into the collapse, promising to leave no stone unturned, adding that, the ministry will work closely with FERMA and other road construction Agencies to determine the cause of the collapse and develop strategies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Also speaking on the incident, the Coordinator of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, Engr Yakubu Mohammed, the Chairman of Gassol Local Government, Hon Abubakar Usman Saidu and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency Engineer, Martins Iva Markus assured the residents and commuters of their commitment to supporting, the Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas and the Commissioner works, Hon Moseh Luka in the efforts to restructuring the bridge into a safe and functional bridge.
It was confirmed that no life was lost during the collapse of the bridge.
