Christmas: Women Affairs Commissioner donates food items, cash to widows, orphans in Taraba

In the spirit of Christmas, new year celebrations and her desire to help the needy and the less privileged persons in the society, the Taraba State Commissioner, Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs. Mary Sinjen has donated food items and cash to widows and female orphans in Jalingo the state capital.
Mrs. Sinjen who spoke to Reporters in her Jalingo residence shortly after the ceremony said the funds came from her pocket but passed through her pet project, ‘JANDHANN LEGACY FOUNDATION INC’.
She added that the gesture was targeted at beneficiaries from three communities of Jalingo, Tunga Ladan and Jen.
“Jalingo ceremony has taken place, 23rd and 24th December have been slated for Tunga Ladan and Jen communities of Karim Lamido Local Government Area of the State respectively”, she said.

The Commissioner who further noted that she has the passion to touch lives especially when it comes to the widows, orphans, the less privileged persons and the elderly, explained that her decision was because they really need help to survive.
“Things are hard for those who have husbands and parents, not to talk of those who don’t have.
“Touching lives is best done through giving which is also scriptural. “I have to follow the scriptures that says, we should give and this is the season of giving”,
“We are in the season of christmas and new year celebrations, we have to assist those who don’t have so that we can celebrate together”,

Mrs. Sinjen also distributed bags of rice, life chicken, gallons of palm/groundnut oil and cash to the staff of the ministry of women affairs and child development to celebrate christmas and new year.
Speaking on the event held at Ministry’s headquarters Jalingo, the Commissioner said,
“It’s my staff, I need to appreciate them because it’s end of the year. They need to go home with items to show that they are working in an office”,
“All I have donated is a token but it will go a long in touching the lives of the beneficiaries and soften their hardships.
Mrs. Mary Sinjen however, lauded the leadership styles of her boss Dr. Agbu Kefas whom she described as, “the most outstanding governor of our time”.
Her words: “Governor Kefas is somebody whose heart is deeply rooted to the affairs and plight of the masses, he loves to see that things are working well and, his heartbeat is to see that he has touched the lives of the poor and ordinary people of the State”
“Whatever he is doing, he is doing it for the benefit of humanity, not for personal reasons” she said.
Maimuna Shuaibu and Serah Vincent, were among the beneficiaries who spoke with our reporter in an interview.
They expressed happiness over Mrs. Sinjen’s philanthropic life, thanked her for helping the helpless, putting smiles on the faces of the widows, orphans and the elderly people in the society. And asked God to bless her.
