Chairman Wikki Tourists FC Expresses Confidence on return to NPFL, Commends Govt, SWAN

The Chairman Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi, Engr. Auwal Gotel, has expressed confidence that the team will return to its rightful position in the Nigeria’s highest football league NPFL.
Engr. Gotel gave the assurance at the Conference Hall of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Bauchi State Council, Monday 17th ,2025 during an interaction with Members of the Sports Writers Association, SWAN organized by the leadership of the Bauchi State Chapter SWAN led Bala Bawaji.
The Chairman, Wikki Tourists FC board in company of one of his members Comrade Umar Saidu, the state chairman of NUJ and Nasiru Abdullahi Kobi Media officer of the club, X-rayed the achievements of the team in the first stanza of the 2024/2025 Nigeria National League (NNL) where he explained that Wikki Tourists FC had played Six matches, won four, drew one and lost one which placed the team on top of the table with 13 points to lead the Northern Conference C.
He said in a keen determination to consolidate on the successes recorded in the first round of the Conference, the management in consultation with the technical team has signed 3 new players to cover the gaps created by Promise Damala who left to join Katsina United FC and the absence of Haruna Aliyu and Shafiu Adamu currently in the U-20 National Team Camp for National assignment.
On the issue of welfare of technical crew, Players and other supporting Staff of the Club, Engr. Gotel, said ” since we came on board, my management doesn’t compromise with the issue of welfare of our team, because that is the most motivating yard stick to achieve our target to return to NPFL soon and as you can see, that is why we are on top of the Conference with wide margin.
The Chairman unfolded that, the Management is doing everything possible to attract sponsorship for the club to reduce government burden on the team.
He said”already we have started talking with two Companies on the issue of the sponsorship one is foreign Company and the other one is our home based Company, Shaffa Energy, i am optimistic that by next season while in NPFL, Wikki Tourists FC will be fully kitted by these Companies God”s willing”.
While commending Bauchi state Chapter of SWAN for organizing the forum that gave him the privilege to explain to public the efforts and achievements of the management of the club leading to return to NPFL at the end of the football season, he promised to work in partnership with the association to further project the image of the team and in the interest of sports development in the state as contained in “My Bauchi Project of Governor Bala Mohammed”, Gotel said.
