Cattle Disease: Adamawa Govt Begins Mass Vaccination

The Adamawa State Government has Began Mass Vaccinations of cattle against the Dreaded disease in Local Government Areas borderingā Taraba State and Camoroun Republic as a measure to Curtail the outbreak that recently Killed over One thousand Cattles in Taraba State.
The Commissioner Ministry for Livestock and Aquaculture, Alhaji Tijjani Marksha who Led a powerful delegation of Professionals that include the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Directors and other Veterinary Doctors and Officials of the Ministry for the Flag off of the Vaccinations exercise, at Gongoshi in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, expressed joy with the level of compliance by Cattle rearers.
The outbreak of the disease was said to have affected mostly Cows and Hippos in Sardauna Local Government area and later escalated to few other local government areas of Taraba State and as a result led to the dead of more than one thousand Cattles.
And to prevent disease from spreading into Adamawa state territory, the Adamawa State Ministry of Livestock and Aquaculture directed all its Divisional Veterinary Officers DVO’s and Other Personnel to be on red alert and set machinery in motion for the mass Vaccination exercise.
With the arrival of the drugs and all equipments needed, the Commissioner and his team were at Gongoshi Friday, where Vaccines were administered on Hundreds of cattles.
Addressing the herders after the Exercise, Alhaji Tijjani Marksha while expressing appreciation to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for timely intervention, said the Governor is always sensitive to the plight of his People.
While Describing Fintiri as People’s Oriented Governor, he told the herders to always support every policies and Programmes of a leader that will always defend their interest.
In an interview, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Aminu Mohammed Suleiman explained that the Hermorhegic Septicaemia has symptoms of sweat,hotness in the body of the animal and also has an incubation of twenty four hours to kill a cattle.
He urged the people to report suspected cases to the nearest veterinary clinics or the Ministry at the State Secretariat in Yola.
The Director State Veterinary Services Doctor Berthilimous Nyalas mentioned the targeted local government areas for the Fist Phase of the Vaccination to include, Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Mayo belwa, Toungo ,Fufore, Maiha, Mubi North and Mubi South, because of their proximity to both Taraba and the Cameroun Republic.
In a Vote of thanks, the Ardo Kwanan Lauje, Gongoshi Ardo Abfu Gajere, said this is the first time that Government will come to them without them requesting, commending Governor Ahmadu Umaru for coming to their aid, praying God Almighty to Reward him.
The Commissioner also paid a working visit ithe Adamawa State Livestock Transformation Center in Gongoshi.
