Nigeria has had ample opportunities, cutting edge chances to drastically advance the change agenda but failed to actualize the moment.
Several of those critical and heartwarming moments when the nerves are down, the walls and barriers dividing us like tribe, religion, section, politics and so on appeared non existent. Nigeria at those moments stands at the verge of national renewals, transformation and positive change but alas and sadly fail to grasp the opportunities to tailor made the feelings, euphoria and energy for driving the most desired transformation movements to fruition.

Today we are in one of those moments. The ICONIC event of the launch of the autobiography of one of Nigeria’s famous leaders will bring Nigeria to a moment of deep reflections that could ignite a Moment of revival and peace that could end ACRIMONIES, TRIBAL CHAUVINISM, RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY, SECTIONAL BARRIERS etc etc. Can Nigeria and Nigerians seize the moment?

The significant events of the times and life of General IBB that forms his autobiography, “A Journey in Service”, that will be launched today will be an essential moment to reflect not only on his remarkable legacy but the direction Nigeria is headed in terms of actualizing her dream of a great nation.

With a life spanning over eight decades, Babangida has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s history.

His story is a testament to destiny, as he rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most influential leaders in Nigeria’s history.

Babangida’s leadership style was rare, characterized by his vision, strategic thinking, and ability to navigate complex political landscapes. He surrounded himself with the best brains and capable hands, who served the country with integrity of heart.

His administration witnessed significant developments in several sectors of the economy ranging from state creation to security, Agriculture, Infrastructure, International relations to complex crisis management.

During his tenure, nine new states were created, bringing the total number of states in Nigeria to 30. The newly created states were Akwa Ibom, Katsina, Kogi, Abia, Enugu, Delta, Jigawa, Kebbi, Osun, Taraba, and Yobe. Furthermore, Babangida established several security outfits to enhance national security and address emerging threats.

The IBB administration also witnessed significant developments in the agricultural sector. Babangida’s administration invested heavily in education.

His commitment to development were evident in the construction of the Third Mainland Bridge, the dualization of the Kaduna-Kano highway, and the completion of the Shiroro Hydroelectric Power Station etc etc that had significant national value and relevance.

As IBB in his remarkable and advanced age launches his autobiography titled ” A JOURNEY IN SERVICE ” today 20th February, 2025, I salute the General and several Nigerian leaders who have served this nation with integrity of heart and wish that this cutting edge moment will launch the nation to the desired irreversible transformation era once and for all.
