By Umar Moh’d

Communities of Boi and Tapshin in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State have expressed their happiness over the decision of Governor Bala Mohammad to approve the construction of 11.2 kilometer road from Boi to Tapshin in Tafawa Balewa local government area.

Speaking on behalf of the Tapshin community, Istifanus Barde and Mrs Astra John from Boi community shared their painful experiences before the construction of the 11.2 kilometre road linking them to Tafawa Balewa LG executed by the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed.

Mr. Istifanus Barde, recalled how they spent days stranded with a corpse due to heavy rainfall at Tapshin River and they can’t take patients to nearby hospital due to absence of accessable road.

He said such ordeals had been the reality for many years, especially during the rainy season, when access between the two communities became nearly impossible, until the coming of Governor Bala Mohammad who provided a great intervention especially in constructing five Bridges to allow easy access for the volume of water passing through.

Also expressing her happiness, Mrs Astra John, a resident of Boi village, commended the Governor for his visionary projects in the area, saying in the past they hardly interact with the neighbouring community due to absence of a good road.

She added that the completion of the new road and bridge has drastically transformed their movements, reducing what used to be hours of struggle to just a few minutes’ drive.

Speaking during the ongoing Media Tour of projects across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State, the Supervising Engineer, Ado Shehu said the road has been fully completed and handed over.

He assured that the standard and quality of work will ensure durability for years to come.
