Body of Late Madam Grace Marbel Oliver Committed To Mother Earth

By Lynn Adda

The remains of Ma Grace Marbel Oliver, popularly known as Mama G, mother of Rotarian Jerry Oliver, have been laid to rest at her family compound.

The funeral service was conducted by officials of the Christ Ascension Church of Nigeria, Takum in Taraba State, where she was worshipping before her demise.

In a sermon at the funeral service, Reverend Ndubuisi Ominyi of the Christ Ascension Church, reminded the mourners that the world is a temporary place for believers, stressing that everyone will depart the earth at the appointed time.

He therefore encouraged the gathering to emulate the deceased by always doing good and showing love while still alive to avoid regrets on the last day.

“The testimony of our late mother has been heavy. What is your testimony, and what is my own testimony? “Are people going to say good things about you and me when that day comes?”

The man of God noted that it is not too late for those who have gone astray to amend their ways because God is a God that forgives sin when one repents from sin.

He advised the people to see the occasion as a moment of meditation and reflection on their daily activities to correct areas of wrongdoing.

In his comments, Rotarian Jerry Oliver, who is the eldest son of the deceased, spoke at length on the life and time of his late mother.

He said his late mother was a disciplinarian who devoted her time and energy to the upbringing and training of her children and showed love to those who crossed her part, not necessarily her relations.

“We want to thank you all for standing by us from the moment of her sickness, death, and final internment.

“Whatever we have not been able to give you, please don’t be angry because in situations like this, one will not be able to satisfy everybody.

“In fact, whatever is happening here today, if not for the Church, friends and well wishers, it wouldn’t have been possible, and we shall remain eternally grateful to God for the connections”.

“As we depart to our various destinations after the interment, we wish each and every one of us journey mercies and God’s blessings.”

The deceased is survived by sisters, brothers, five children (2 boys and 3 girls), 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.

Prominent among her children are Jerry Oliver, a Director with the Public Complaints Commission, Jalingo, and Barr Tony Oliver, a private legal practitioner.
