Bauchi SWAN Honours Wikki Tourists FcC, Wuringe FC for up lifting the State’s Image in Football

Following the recent outstanding performances of Wikki Tourists and Wuringe Football Clubs of Bauchi, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Bauchi State Chapter has awarded certificates of recognition to the Management of both teams for their well-deserved promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the Nigeria National League (NNL), respectively.
The Bauchi State SWAN Chairman, Bala Bawaji made the presentation on Friday at the Conference hall of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi, where he congratulated and commended the Management of Wikki Tourists, technical crew and players for securing promotion and returning the team to its rightful position in the Nigeria Premier League, as appreciated by Government and sports loving people of Bauchi State.
He said the award presentation was aimed at encouraging both Managements of Wikki Tourists and Wuringe FC to do more in keeping the flag of Bauchi State flying in developing the game of football not only in the state but in Nigeria, Africa and World over.
In his remarks, the National Ex-Officio of SWAN, Usman Abbas, commended Bauchi SWAN for their thought and initiative to award certificates of excellence and outstanding performance to the two clubs for the achievements recorded in the game of football which restored the name of Bauchi as Sports city in Nigeria where every Sports Man and Woman is in Country is proud to visit.
He appreciated the partnership of Wikki Tourists FC’s Management with Bauchi SWAN, which he believes contributed to this success story.
He equally commended the State Government under the good leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed for the moral and financial support to the state darling team which yielded fruitful result at end of the 2024/2025 Nigeria football season, praying that the gesture will improve and continue in 2025/2026 Football Season.
In his comment, the Chairman Bauchi State NUJ, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, who is also a board member of Wikki Tourists FC, expressed gratitude to Bauchi SWAN for recognizing the success of the two teams, saying sports journalists in the state played a great role .
He assured that the Management will continue to Partner SWAN and will carry the Association along in all it activities in the 2025/2026 Football Season, considering sports as Media event.
In his appreciation, the Chairman of Wikki Tourists Football Club Management, Engineer Mohammed Auwal Gotal, appreciate Bauchi SWAN for the recognition and expressed deep gratitude to God for the opportunity provided to them as management of the state darling team to deliver on mandate given to them by Governor Bala Mohammed to return the club to the Nigeria Professional League.
“In an effort to achieve our mandate in the 2024/2025 NNL Season we started from engaging a reputable Technical Adviser to handle the team, contracted tested players with good Salary and encouraging welfare packages which we are celebrating today as we gained promotion”. He explained.
The Chairman, while appreciating the role played by the supporters club in achieving this goal, commended the Bauchi State Government under the watchful eyes of Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support to the team.
President of Warinje FC, Abubakar Mai Auduga, praised SWAN for the recognition. saying, “I was surprised when Bauchi SWAN informed and invited me to come for the presentation of the award Certificate, because i believe this is the first of its kind in history in the state”.
He unfolded that Warinje FC was formed to provide platform for young players to showcase their talents and become marketable not only in Nigeria but World over for their purposeful future.
Mai Auduga assured that he will invest so much in the team to secure promotion to premier League next.
