Bauchi State Launches Aggressive Awareness Campaign On Contributory Pension Scheme

The Bauchi State Contributory Pension Commission has embarked on an intensive sensitization campaign to ensure the successful implementation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in the state.

Speaking at a press briefing in his office, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Malam Ibrahim Inuwa, stated that Governor Bala Mohammed is fully committed to the transparent and effective rollout of the scheme.
“Once fully operational, the CPS will eliminate pension liabilities and ensure retirees receive their benefits promptly, as employees will directly access their contributions from their Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs),” Inuwa explained.
He highlighted that the new scheme addresses the shortcomings of the old defined benefits system by ensuring transparency, as workers can track their contributions at any time.
Inuwa noted that the success of the scheme depends on collaboration among key stakeholders, including the National Pension Commission (PenCom), Pension Fund Custodians (PFCs), PFAs, employers, and employees.
He urged all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to actively participate for smooth implementation.
The Executive Secretary announced that the scheme is expected to commence full operations between April and May this year.
He revealed that 18 out of the 28 states already enrolled in the CPS have begun implementation, and Bauchi State is determined not to lag behind.
Inuwa commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support and dedication to ensuring the seamless takeoff of the scheme in the state.
