Bauchi: NEDC Distributes Relief Materials To Victims of Banditry in Toro Federal Constituency

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has provided emergency relief materials to victims of banditry, kidnapping, and other related crises in seven communities within the Toro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State.
The relief items, which include 1000 bags of 25kg rice, over 960 cartons of spaghetti, 240 cartons of cooking oil, 1,000 mats, and 1,000 blankets, were distributed to the affected residents of Tulu, Mana, Kogin-Sallah, Kadade, Shau, Magama, and Kafin Dulubi communities.
During the presentation of the materials to Ismael Dabo, the member representing Toro at the House of Representatives, the NEDC Deputy Director of Resettlements and Early Recovery, Muhammad Sani Umar, emphasized the importance of equitable distribution to the victims.
He highlighted the commission’s core mandate, stating, “The fundamental task of the commission is to receive and manage funds allocated by the Federal Government or international donors for the resettlement, rehabilitation, and reintegration of insurgency victims.
This includes the reconstruction of damaged roads, houses, and business premises.”
Muhammad Sani Umar explained that the intervention followed a formal request made by Ismael Dabo during a House of Representatives plenary session, as well as an on-the-ground assessment conducted by the NEDC in the affected communities.
*A delegation was sent to assess the extent of damage and destruction in these communities to determine the areas requiring urgent intervention,”He added.
The Deputy Director also urged community members to actively participate in development initiatives and social activities to complement government efforts in providing essential amenities such as potable water, roads, and improved sanitation.
“Community involvement in development initiatives will significantly support government efforts in addressing critical needs like clean water, infrastructure, and hygiene,” He noted.
In his response, Ismael Dabo, represented by Hussaini Abdulhadi, expressed gratitude to the NEDC for its swift response to the request. He assured the constituents of fair representation and pledged to remain accessible for advice and constructive criticism to foster development in the state and the nation at large.
“We assure you of fair representation at all times. Our doors are open and will remain open for advice and meaningful contributions to the development of our dear state and the country as a whole,”Dabo stated.
The event, which featured a symbolic presentation of the relief materials, was attended by top NEDC officials, politicians, and members of the public.
