Senator Shehu Umar Buba, representing Bauchi South in the Senate, has urged relevant authorities to ensure justice for the slain charcoal seller, Abubakar Yahaya, in Toro Local Government Area of the state.

His call aims to hold the perpetrators accountable and serve as a deterrent to others.
During a condolence visit to Yahaya’s family in Zaranda, Senator Buba condemned the extrajudicial killing of his constituents.
He stated, “This killing is unfortunate. The killing of innocent people who are going about their lawful businesses needs to be investigated, and anyone found wanting should be prosecuted.”
The Senator assured the family that he would take necessary actions to ensure justice for both the deceased and the injured individuals involved in the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, reported that local residents informed them that Yahaya was arrested by members of a quasi-security outfit, the Nigerian Hunters Forestry and Security Service.
This led to sporadic gunfire from the hunters, resulting in serious injuries to Yahaya, a 35-year-old, as well as 20-year-old Hussaini Yunusa and 16-year-old Yayangida Hussaini, all from Zaranda Gari village.
“They were promptly taken to the Primary Health Care Center in Zaranda Gari, where, unfortunately, Abubakar Yahaya succumbed to his injuries,” the statement explained.
In addition to addressing the tragedy, Senator Buba announced plans for the construction of three rural roads as part of his constituency projects for 2024.
He stated that the projects would commence in the next two weeks within the Toro Local Government Area.
“The projects will be flagged off in the next two weeks. I have three roads; one from Corner Ma’aji Shittu to Jaji Nabordo, and another from Rimi Zayam Goljudo to Alhaji DanBaba’s residence at Zaranda,” he said.
Buba also noted that he had learned that the Bauchi State Governor had recently initiated the construction of the Rimi Zayam road.
He expressed his willingness to redirect his project to another location within the same town if needed, saying, “If the state government wants to do it, let them do it; we will find another location.
However, in a swift response to recent statements made by Senator Shehu Umar Buba regarding the security situation in Bauchi State, the state government has called on security agencies to invite the senator for clarification.
This response follows a video in circulation, where Senator Buba alleged that the killing of a charcoal seller in Zaranda village, Toro local government area, was carried out by personnel from the State Agency for Vigilante and Youth Empowerment.
During a press briefing, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu, criticized Senator Buba for politicizing security issues.

He emphasized the importance of objectivity for individuals in significant political positions, urging the senator to be more mindful of the implications of his statements, especially in matters currently under investigation.
Bununu stated, “It would not be right to make conclusions on a matter under security investigation.”
He reassured the public that the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, in collaboration with various security agencies, is committed to maintaining peace in the state and will not allow baseless allegations to jeopardize the existing order or create security threats.
