Bauchi hosts ACF unity soccer competition

The 2025 Arewa Consultative Forum unity football tournament commenced in Bauchi with six states of the north east region in attendance.

Addressing sports journalists at the commencement of the games in Bauchi over the weekend, the chairman of the competition Dr Abubakar Sadiq Fakai said, the tournament is part of activities lined up in commemoration of the upcoming 25 years anniversary celebrations of the Arewa Consultative Forum.
Dr Sadiq Fakai explained that the competition will give more opportunities to the teaming youths across 19 northern states to showcase their talents to the entire world.
The chairman called on the participating states to be committed and tbe good ambassadors of their respective states, before, during and after the tournament.
He said from north east, his team will proceed to north central on same mission, with Kebbi state already emerged winner of the north west edition of the unity football tournament.
Dr Fakai, added that winners from each zone will converge in Kaduna and decide the overall winner of the annual unity football tournament of the Arewa Consultative Forum.
Also speaking, a member of the committee Alhaji Sherif Banki, urged players and their officials to take advantage of the tournament and make friends, saying football brings people together irrespective of their culture, background and religion.
Sheriff Banki insist that ACF has been a backbone of northern Nigeria interests and championing peace and harmony in the country.
In the opening games, Host Bauchi state overcame Taraba by 2-1, as Gombe recorded same margin against Borno state.
The theme for the unity football tournament 2025 is “promoting unity, peace and youth empowerment through sports”.
